SilaNGuin Cove

Excellent get away!

Silanguin Cove is a perfect getaway for day tours and overnight campers alike. Silanguin Cove, the farthest of the newly “rediscovered” beaches in San Antonio, Zambales. While it bears many similarities with its neighbors, Silanguin is definitely the odd man out. While Nagsasa, Talisayin, and Anawangin are covered with volcanic ash, Silanguin is strewn with regular sand. It is not white-white. It’s not even beige. It is gray at best. But don’t judge the beach by its color. It has the most stunning backdrop. Reddish hills frame the cove, a stark contrast to their virid feet.

WHAT TO DO:
– Snorkeling at the beachfront rich marine ecosystem
– Mountain Trekking
– Camping underneath the trees along the beachfront
– Immersion with the aetas of the community.

It’s an extremely scenic and unique part of the Philippines.

CAPONES ISLAND

 Lovely Paradise of  Zambales

Four kilometers off Barangay Pundaquit of Zambales in the main island of Luzon is the Capones Island or “Isla de Gran Capon” during the Spanish era. It is a two-kilometer long bone-shaped island surrounded with white sand and rocky shores. This island boasts of white sand beaches conducive for overnight camping, day picnic and swimming; turquoise water and rich marine life that is great for diving and snorkeling.

There is no commercial establishment on the island and the only structure there (apart from an unfinished building) is an old Spanish lighthouse known as Faro de Punta Capones, built in 1890 to guide ships entering and leaving Subic Bay and to warn passing ships of the dangers of rocky shores around the island. The solar-powered lighthouse is Capones’ best kept secret, with its original brick house structure still in place, though in ruins and neglected, that still draws a dramatic scene.

Just a stone throw away from Capones Island is the Camara Island, which is virtually two islands connected by a sandbar.

WHAT TO DO:
– Snorkeling at the beachfront rich marine ecosystem
– Camping at the beachfront
– Watch the Sun as it starts to welcome the new day.
